“…He leads me beside quiet waters…”

Psalm 23:2

How beautiful is it that our Heavenly Father leads us everywhere we go? There isn’t one thing, person, or place we encounter that He doesn’t gently lead us to. Everything has a purpose in His great plan in our lives.

I don’t know where you find yourself in this season of life you’re in, but I want to encourage you to find rest and peace in the One who is leading you through it all. That is, are you letting Him lead you or are you leading yourself?

I find myself most times that I am leading the way I am to go. I’m holding on to God’s hand, but I’m telling Him which way I should go instead of listening to His gentle words of direction. Sometimes I think I know better than the One who literally knows all and, as a result, I’m putting God in the backseat as I take the lead and I’m no longer being led beside quiet waters or green pastures. I’m finding myself surrounded in a storm, drowning, crying out for help.

But once I start letting Him take the lead, even though pain may come, God leads me to quiet waters and green pastures, giving me rest and hope and peace in the midst of my season. It’s a surrender. It’s laying down the control I want to have in my life and saying, “God, have your way. Do what only You can do. This is Yours, not mine.”. There’s beauty in that surrender and in that prayer. Instead of uncertainty, doubt, and anxiety, I’m covered in peace, hope, and joy no matter what I may be facing. Why? Because I know that the One who is leading me knows what He’s doing and it’s there I can find rest in trusting Him.

Friend, how can you be led by God in this season of your life? What control do you need to fully surrender to Him? I challenge you to give that control up and lay it at His feet so that you too can see the goodness and love He has for you as He leads you. Read Psalm 23, memorize it, and watch as the Good Shepherd leads you beside quiet waters and green pastures.

Chloee Jean is a youth leader, a Podcaster, a Digital Creator, Worship Leader, Social Media Manager, and a firm believer in Christ. She was born and raised in a Christian home and spent her days as a little girl singing songs, playing around on the piano, and drawing with her crayons. She now finds joy in speaking God’s Word, singing about it occasionally with her sister, and creating digital designs to point others back to God and His Word.
